The ice is out, loons are calling and frogs are singing. April is a great month at Otter Lake.

April 11, 2021 by Kerry Mueller

Yesterday was a super day for a paddle, calm, warm and bugless! With today’s warm rain it is expected that the small sheets of ice in a few shaded shore areas will melt so today, April 11th, is being called 2021’s Ice Out day. Ice was on the lake for 90 days, somewhat below the average of 106 days during the last 13 years.

Loons have been seen and heard calling which is an awesome sign of spring. Mergansers, robins and swallows are back too. See you around the lake soon as well.
