We have lots to talk about at this AGM!
OLRA is launching a new lake health monitoring program, Benthos Monitoring, on July 6, 2019 in conjunction with the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve (GBBR). David Bywater from the GBBR will be presenting on the “bugs in the mud” which are the base of the food web in our lakes and an amazing biological indicator of lake health. You’ll hear why this is so and how adults and kids alike can get engaged on July 6th too.
The Seguin Strategic Plan and Official Plan are being reviewed. OLRA will let your know how you can weigh in on both plans and hear Mayor Ann MacDiarmid, Councillor Daryle Moffatt and Councillor Art Coles give their up-dates about where Seguin is at and what is important for the future. As well, Seguin is updating doing a Communications and Engagement Survey. JJ Blower, Communications and Program Coordinator, will tell us about it and how you can have your say. Paper copies of the survey will be available at the AGM. Survey closes May 20th.
The OLRA Annual BBQ and Photo Contest is happening on July 27th so save the date and start taking those great photos! The Photo Contest rules are posted here. Thank you Tappattoo for hosting us again!
The menu will include a choice of: honey BBQ chicken, pork and pineapple, kale and broccoli coleslaw, grilled vegetable kabobs, baked potato with garnishes, corn on the cob, watermelon skewers and salted caramel brownie. Get your early bird tickets at the AGM.
We have three new OLRA Board members to introduce, AJ Mueller with whom many of you have communicated as you renewed your memberships. AJ took over as Treasurer from Daryle Moffatt in January. Denise Exler and John Roberts new to the OLRA Board as well.
Enjoy your time at the lake and we look forward to seeing you at the AGM on the 19th at the Foley Community Centre, 60 Rankin Lake Road, Seguin!
