After a fantastic and well-attended inaugural season last year, the Otter Lake Summer Book Club is back for 2026—and we couldn’t be more excited to kick things off again!
What started as a suggestion in an OLRA poll quickly grew into a highlight of the summer, bringing together a wonderful group of readers for thoughtful discussions, great laughs, and, of course, some excellent books. We’re looking forward to building on that momentum and welcoming both returning members and new faces this year.
When:
The Book Club will run from May through October, perfect for pairing great reads with long summer days and cozy fall evenings.
How it Works:
Each confirmed member will be asked to send 2 book recommendations (via email), after which a survey will be sent out (including a short description of each book) asking each member to rank their top choices. The results of this survey will determine the 6 books for the current season, ideally exploring a mix of genres and themes.
Meetups:
We’ll gather for lively discussions at 7 pm on the last Wednesday of each month beginning on May 27th.At minimum, our July 29th and August 26th meetings will be held in person at The Grand Tappattoo or another agreed-upon location.
In May, June, September, and October, we will meet virtually so everyone can participate comfortably. Final details will be shared closer to each date.
How to Join:
It’s easy—just email info@olra.ca to sign up. Follow-up emails will keep everyone informed throughout the season. All ages and reading levels are welcome, and you’re encouraged to join as many discussions as you can.
Keep an eye out for the email survey, then get ready to dive into our first read for May! Mark your calendar for May 27th at 7 pm—Zoom details will be shared in advance.
Here’s to another summer of great books, engaging conversation, and a growing community of readers. We can’t wait to see you there!
